About Fay

Prior to working as a counselor, I worked in public education as a teacher and administrator. During that phase of my career, I worked with children, adolescents, and adults assisting them in setting and achieving goals. While caring for aging parents, my career redirected to work with persons around end-of-life issues, diagnoses of life limiting illnesses, grief and loss, life-transitions, and trauma.

My experience as an educator is an asset for counseling individuals, families, or groups. I have experienced the challenges of being a sandwich generation caregiver while caring for aging parents. As a family therapist, I can assist families when the family system is out of balance with a life transition, the diagnosis of a life-limiting illness, or death

Life transitions at times are stressful and trigger negative emotions, which impact self-esteem, self-identity, and coping skills. Working through the challenges that life has given me, will assist me in being an effective therapist.

As a life-long learner, I have chosen to expand my knowledge and to network with other Counselors.  I am a member of the Texas Counseling Association (TCA), Texas Association for Marriage and Family Therapists (TAMFT), American Association of Marriage Family Therapists (AAMFT), and the Association of Death Educators and Counselors (ADEC).  I hold a certified thanatologist certification (CT) through the Association of Death Educators and Counselors.

I choose to give back to the community by volunteering with the American Cancer Society as a facilitator of Life After Loss support groups.

When we are no longer able to change a situation - we are challenged to change ourselves.” Victor Frankl
